Cities and regions of Russia

Russia is the largest state in the whole world. Its territory covers the lands of Eastern Europe and Northern Asia and contains many regions and nationalities. Each region of Russia differs from each other in its history, natural resources and traditions. Each has its own unique flavor. It all depends on which region you choose.

Of course, the starting points for exploring Russia are Moscow and St. Petersburg, rich in architectural monuments, museums and many other historical sights. Also, to get acquainted with the history of the country and its architecture, you should visit the region of Central Russia and see such ancient cities as Suzdal, Vladimir, Yaroslavl and other cities of the Golden Ring.

On the territory of Russia there are many protected regions, Karelia with its green forests and reservoirs, Khakassia with its amazing lakes. The Republic of Tatarstan is rich in mighty rivers (Volga, Vyatka, Belaya, Kama) and picturesque lakes. And the historical capital (Kazan Khanate, the Republic of Tatarstan) Kazan, which is the largest cultural center of Russia, is rich in museums, private galleries and theaters. Kazan Kremlin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

One of the popular tourist places is the Republic of Altai, where you can take environmental and educational tours, hiking, horseback, fishing trips. On the territory of Altai there is a huge number of natural objects, the most famous of which is Lake Teletskoye, on the shores of which there are many boarding houses and campgrounds.

Something similar can offer less popular among tourists, but also a very interesting Ural, another feature of which, besides nature, is the mining-industrial past and history, cast in iron.

Krasnodar gift will delight lovers of marine recreation. Clean sea, sunny weather and fresh air have a relaxing holiday, so in the territory of Krasnodar there are a large number of sanatoriums and boarding houses.

Another health center is the Caucasus with its mineral waters and curative mud. In addition, the Caucasus is popular among fans of extreme types of recreation, such as skiing and snowboarding.

For lovers of ethnic ecotourism, it will be interesting to visit Kalmykia, Dagestan or the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, where you can see the villages where people live according to ancient customs. In any case, what kind of recreation you would not decide to do, Russia can offer the region with the right conditions!
