On this trip to Pushkin, 25 km from St Petersburg, you will be introduced to the Catherine Palace and its surrounding parks. The Palace, with its famous Amber Room created by Empress Elizabeth and Catherine the Great, is why Pushkin was first known as “Village of the Tsars” (Tsarskoe Selo), the legendary summer home of the Romanov Tsars. Sightseeing opportunities abound in the Catherine Park, as it is filled with monuments and follies commisioned by the Empress herself.
Within the Palace itself, the sparkling Amber Room will take you away from reality and plunge into the world of Catherine the Great.
A city tour with a visit to the world-famous Hermitage will provide an unforgettable introduction to city. The unsurpassed museum collection will show you a host of world-famous works of art, including those by Picasso, Rembrandt and Rubens, presented in the majestic buildings of the Winter Palace, and Small, New and Old Hermitages. You will also see the royal interiors of the former Romanov residence in the Winter Palace.
On the subsequent boat tour, a wide panoramic view will introduce you to St Petersburg as a maritime capital, with its charming rivers and canals and unforgettable embankments.
The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, one of the city’s most beautiful landmarks, is a real experience to see its unique mosaic decorations, which were designed by well-known Russian artists.
