Self Portrait in the Russian Museum.

The largest exhibition so far, celebrating the genre of self portrait will open in the Benois Wing of the Russian Museum on June 29th 2016.
Visitors will be treated to two hundred "selfies" by the leading masters of Russian art from the 18th century to the present day.
This will be a unique opportunity to follow the development of self portraiture in Russian painting, graphics and sculpture.
Along with famous masterpieces, the work of lesser known artists will be on display.

Such a collection has not been seen since the seventies, when self portraits were also being exhibited in the Tretyakov Gallery as well as in the Russian Museum. In the intervening 40 years there have many new and innovative artists, and visitors will be excited to view such a range of talent and such differences of style.
The exhibition should please lovers of traditional art as well as followers of a more contemporary path.
Exhibits include work by Venetsianov, Tropinina, Repin, Chagall, Makovsky, Borisov-Musatov, Serebryakova and Altman. There will also be work by Gregory Guryanov, a member of the famous "Cinema" group as well as Masha Sha and her "Bed" in Avi Format.

This exhibition will be a rich blend of styles, techniques, attitudes and ages, reflecting the very spirit and personality of the artists and another treasure in St Petersburg, a city of culture.
