June 15 in St. Michael's Castle in St. Petersburg in the series "Artists of the late XIX-XX centuries" will be a lecture by art critic Svetlana Ershova, dedicated to the work of Dmitry Zhilinsky. Usually the painting of the master is referred to a severe style, but this is a rather conventional classification. Even an unprepared spectator will notice that in the works of the artist the traditions of the art of the Early Renaissance and Russian iconography are reinterpreted in a most interesting way. Zhilinsky appealed to different genres, but invariably strove to fix on the canvas the spirit of time, expectations and the search for his contemporaries.
