Hermitage of St Petersburg - vote to change the name of part of this historic building.
The administrators of the Hermitage are asking all citizens of St Petersburg to select a new name for part of the building presently known as the General Staff Headquarters, which is the east wing. As the present title has military connotations, which don't match its use, the proposal is to rename this wing.
It would be hoped that the new name reflects both the history of the building and its present use.
Options that are being considered are :
The General Staff- Hermitage eastern wing.
Hermitage East Wing
Hermitage - Wings of Russia (Carlo Rossi designed this bow shaped empire style building)
Hermitage Rossi
Hermitage Rossi Wing - (General Staff)
Hermitage 19-21.
However, the Hermitage is willing to consider other options that will be memorable for citizens of St Petersburg, the Russian Federation and visitors alike.
This is an exciting chance to make history by selecting the new name.
